No to REAL ID

As most of us stay busy with our jobs, families and churches, Satan is actively working to undermine the very foundations of our culture and way of life. It is easy to feel overwhelmed by the darkening culture that surrounds us as Americans or global Christians. However, as followers of Christ, it is our duty, our right and our responsibility to remain vigilant. We dare not rest in any American administration, even one that ostensibly stands against evil. The Marxists that parade themselves as “progressives” are continuing their march, having experienced great success in such institutions as the halls of Congress and of academia.REAL ID

Even in our busyness, let us not become myopic, focusing so much on surviving this challenging economy that we lose the broader vision. Globalists have ingrained themselves so as to go unnoticed. Even in our thought patterns, we are vulnerable to capture by the enemy. Lord, grant us the ability to expand our vision to the broader world around us. As we become more sensitive to the lurking dangers, may we educate ourselves toward a prudent and prayerful response.REAL ID

The increased digitalization of modern life is not lost on us. Admittedly, it offers advantages, with attendant risks. But how sensitive are we to the tightening bands that prescribe how we interact with the world around us? As demands are made relative to travel, for example, should we stop to consider the implications of a digital ID? Are we so trusting in any institution that we will sacrifice our very identity? This has been a gradual creep, but a consistent one, and history shows how far we have come from the ideals of our founders, which, of course, helps explain why our founders are so vilified by the Marxists.

George W. Bush

On May 11, 2005 President George W. Bush signed the REAL ID Act that standardized requirements for driver’s licenses and identification cards issued by U.S. states and territories to gain access to U.S. government facilities, nuclear power plants, and airline flights in the United States. Several new regulations were issued in response to the September 11 attacks, including the Patriot Act and the REAL ID Act. REAL ID sets minimum security requirements for issuance and design to enhance national security and reduce identity fraud. It is likely that many of us had not heard of it before May 7, 2025, the date a REAL ID-compliant license or another federally accepted form of identification was required to board domestic flights, enter federal facilities, and access secure federal buildings.

With mandates such as the restriction of identification documents, REAL ID is truly the beginning of a national ID card, usurping a power that the US Constitution delegates to the states. A national ID card will report every area of our lives to the government, a sobering thought that takes digital surveillance to a new level.

Our Lord told us to be “wise as serpents, and harmless as doves” (Matthew 10:16 KJV). That surely is a directive to remain alert. Let us consider how to apply His words to an increasingly complex technological age. It is consistent with Marxist beliefs to syncretize the world into one body, subject to a single ruler. The Declaration of Independence clarifies that our rights come not from government, but from God. With digital ID, we surrender the freedom He gave us, permitting a Godless government increased control over us.

Whether to submit to government or other secularists is a personal decision that each of us must make. However, let us make that decision following careful consideration, rather than from blind allegiance to a voice we do not recognize. To assume that such dictates come with our best interests at heart is a naïveté we can ill afford.

Much prayer is required if we are to remain steadfast until the end. Many aspects of modern life have changed over the last 250 years, but human nature itself has not. In its unrepentant state, it still opposes God. If we lose the individual autonomy endowed by the Creator, it will be because we refused to swim upstream against a culture cascading downward.
