Following the death of George Floyd Jr. on May 25, 2020, protests and riots erupted throughout America. Following the acquittal of George Zimmerman for the shooting death of black teenager, Trayvon Martin seventeen months earlier, Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi began to use the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter on social media. In 2014, the Black Lives Matter movement became nationally recognized following the deaths of two black men, Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri and Eric Garner in New York City. Though the movement has protested the perceived unjust deaths of blacks wherever they have occurred, it has particularly called attention to alleged abuse of police against blacks while in custody.
Black Lives Matter is purported to be a decentralized non-violent civil disobedient movement (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Lives_Matter), but since George Floyd’s death in May 2020, cities throughout America have been ravaged by BLM adherents or her sympathizers. In fact, since rioting and looting have been a staple of many of these protests, one may enquire concerning the legitimacy of the movement given the disproportional response it has helped to create throughout the nation.
While Bible-believing Christians affirm the fact that black lives matter, they move beyond a narrowly confined racial expression to insist that “all lives matter”! Evolutionists have long insisted upon the superiority of one race over others and have manifested their contempt of the inferior through the efforts of organizations such as Planned Parenthood. Christians who believe the account of Creation as recounted in the Bible affirm the value of all humans, as all are descendants from Adams and Eve and have been made in the image of God.
The Black Lives Matters organization, however, does not affirm the values of the Bible, and for this reason should not be supported by Christians. Allen Parr’s video specifically explains why Christians cannot be part of the Black Lives Matters movement. We highly recommend the biblical teaching of this video and the timely information it provides to God’s people.
